Meet our team of Milwaukee Emergency Veterinarians who provide exceptional medical care for both small animal and exotics. Our Emergency and Critical Care hospital is open 24/7, 365 days a year for walk-in emergencies, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of both large and small animals needing urgent or emergency care for illness or injury. No appointment is needed.

Mike Shimon, DVM

Dr. Shimon has been practicing as a small animal clinician in the greater Milwaukee area since 1994. He has an interest in critical care medicine, soft tissue surgery and exotic animal medicine. Dr. Shimon especially appreciates the privilege of communication and interacting with clients and their animal’s medical care. Lastly, Dr. Shimon enjoys the positive learning environment and camaraderie with his colleagues and the hard working staff at Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals. Dr. Shimon received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at The University of Wisconsin.

Lindsey Foster, DVM and Director of DVMs

Dr. Foster comes to MECA from the Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Brewer, ME. Foster received her education and training at St. Matthew’s University of Veterinary Medicine and received her clinical education at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Foster has always loved animals and is most interested in emergency, soft tissue surgery and critical care.

Lindsey Foster, DVM

Cecile Resop, DVM

Dr. Cecile Resop graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine and did her internship in emergency medicine in Virginia Beach. She missed the deep snow and frigid winters of Wisconsin however, and has begun working at the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals. In her spare time she is finishing a master’s in public health and working on the family farm, with breaks to shoot arrows at hay bales.

Lisa Swanek, DVM

Lisa has always loved animals and loved taking care of them as well. Throughout her childhood, Lisa had always brought home strays. She wanted to be a vet since the age of 12.

Dr. Lisa graduated in 1995 from the UW School of Veterinary Medicine.  She has been a small animal veterinarian at several practices around Wisconsin and has owned a practice in Hawaii.

Lisa’s interest is in small animal medicine and emergency care.  She enjoys her 2 dogs, her 1 cat, 2 guinea pigs and 1 betta fish.

Mark Koeppl, DVM

Dr. Mark A Koeppl was born in Wisconsin and has always been drawn to animals.  After an undergraduate education at UW Platteville, he received his DVM from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984.  During his subsequent internship, the allure of emergency and critical care became apparent and he has focused on this aspect of veterinary Medicine.  He joined, owned and managed the first Veterinary ER in Madison until selling it in 2014.  Now, in semi retirement, he enjoys doing ER shifts, spending time outside on his buffalo ranch, and wintering in Costa Rica.  Besides the bison, he and his wife Sheryl have ten cats, three dogs and a flock of Dominique chickens.

Mouna Senno, DVM

Dr. Senno received her Bachelors of Science in Veterinary Life Sciences with minors in Biology and Chemistry from UW Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. She is experienced in working with large exotic wildlife, large animal, surgical research and human emergency medicine. Dr. Senno’s professional interests include surgery, emergency and critical care and surgical research Affiliations: AVMA
