Cystogram or Urethrogram

These are diagnostic services related to the urinary bladder and the urethra (the pathway for urine out of the bladder). The typical procedure uses a urinary catheter and an injectable “dye”, which provides contrast to help with imaging. Once this dye is introduced into the bladder, X-ray imaging is performed. Cystography can be used to diagnose bladder cancer and other sources for pain and bladder disease symptoms. Other diagnostics, to evaluate kidney function, may also be appropriate. Urethrograms are commonly used to diagnose diseases of the prostate.
